While initially appearing to be a gruff but somewhat honorable figure, Beckett ultimately proved to be driven by self-preservation. He betrayed his crew, including Han and Chewbacca, in a desperate attempt to secure his own safety and reward from Dryden Vos, a high-ranking Crimson Dawn crime lord.
